While internal issues cannot be undervalued for success of any HR programme, HR professionals also need to look at the “Big Picture†and find ways to impact the success of the organization as a whole. What is important here is aligning decisions about people with decisions about the results an organization is trying to achieve. Most organizations are in some or other ways measuring the efficiency/effectiveness of the HR functions. These measures, however, are generally output oriented, focused on internal HR processes and activities and are used to make improvement in HR specific policies and procedures. As HR focuses its activities to broader organizational issues, HR measures also need to be expanded to gauge the impact HRM has on organization goals and mission. Such measures should form the central analytics of HR.
